Travel guide to Phuket with kids

This was little Dylan's 3rd flight and we were off to Phuket for our Babymoon! Yes, I was pregnant and in my early second trimester for this trip. Getting to the airport 2 hours ahead of departure means that we have more time to tour Changi airport's renowned world-class facilities and lounges. We also brought our boy to the Butterfly Garden, the first of its kind to be featured in an airport. He simply loves to go to the airport!

This time around, we flew with SilkAir and before we knew it, we have landed in Phuket!

{ STAYS }

Checked into Avista Hideaway Resort & Spa hotel, a luxurious 5***** hotel that is perched on top of a lush peak that overlooks Tri Trang and Patong beaches. The feeling that you get when you first arrive is warm hospitality with a touch of class. The welcome drink was refreshing, just what you need to cool off in the scorching heat.

The hotel is lavishly decorated and beautiful. It is luxury from a new angle, where you will find the expected resort amenities and cosseted comforts one expects from the top tier of tropical escapes. That's us taking a dip into the pool right after checking in! One of the reasons for selecting this hotel is that they have a child wading pool which is ideal for toddlers.

After a swim, we headed to check out Jungceylon Shopping Mall which was a short shuttle bus ride away from our hotel.

Dinner was at Sea Hag Restaurant, they have amazing Thai food at decent prices.

Dylan enjoyed his Thai fish soup with rice! Yummy for his tummy!

Headed back to the mall for abit of retail therapy. What is a holiday without some shopping right mommies? Ended the night with some sweet desserts from Swensens.

Breakfast was a huge spread! Can't get sick of hotel breakfast like these ones!

More lounging and lazing around the pool before we went back to the mall for some spa, mani-pedi session and activity for the little one.

Lunch was settled in the mall with some simple steamboat and green tea ramen in one of their local restaurants.

This has got to be the highlight for our boy! Located at the third floor of the mall, is Kidzoona, a great indoor playground for those under 12. This playground hails from Japan so every play corner is well designed for. Personally, I think it is more suitable for kids from 2 - 8 years old. There were various giant ball pools, gigantic rollers, long trampoline runways and a massive inflatable slide to keep my boy running and playing around for >3hours! He started off with the role-playing sections with grocery store, baking kitchen, post office, fire engines and lots more. This area fits well for children under 5 years old. Admission cost for adult is only TB$90 and for children TB$180 after 6pm. I think it is really value for money because of the large running area and the fact that they are not bounded by the playing hours that we are paying for. While the hubby is parked there to look after Dylan, I managed to squeeze in some shopping nearby which is also at the top floor. I bought a little giraffe float for my boy which he took for a dip in our hotel bathtub much later.

Greetings from Patong Beach, Phuket!

Dylan boy had so much fun playing and showering with his new found friend, Mr Giraffe or Moose as he calls it! He says it's a polka-dotted moose! Haha!

The floor manager of the restaurant came to ask us about our stay. He was the one who got us a bottle of wine and a sweet piece of Anniversary cake on our second night. The service was impeccable and was a nice touch.

Spend about an hour or so with our boy at the Kids Club of our hotel before heading for our last swim at this family-friendly hotel as we had to check out on that same afternoon.

Goodbye Avista Hideaway! We hope to be back!

We had our lunch at a coffee joint of Jungceylon Mall. Gotten a strawberry shake to cool off the heat before we board a taxi to get to our next hotel destination.

All pink and glowy from the Phuket sun!

This is the famous Indigo Pearl Phuket, where historic details and surreal twists meet Thai warmth. The rough timber and sleep polished metal design, a palette of ochre and rouge sweeps through the resort.

Little Dylan enjoying his happy-hour drinks on the bed upon checking in.

We had Thai seafood dinner by the beach at the Fiesta Restaurant which was a 5-minute walk from our hotel. It was lovely and quaint. I really miss this place.

Night time silhouette at the much earlier sun-kissed beach. See my little bump? ;)

I love these shots. Memories etched forever. In my mind.

My sweet darling boy :*

Breakfast in the hotel was 5*****. What's not to love?

More swimming followed by an indulgent pre-natal body scrub and massage at the hotel's Coqoon Spa.

Wandered off to Phen's Restaurant for dinner. Local delicacies are the best!

Big D says hello to small D! ;P

The Kids Club room was awesome! They even have baby-sitting services.

Family time is <3.

So long, all good things have to come to an end. Goodbye Indigo Pearl!

This Babymoon trip had to be the most relaxed and wonderful holiday. Thank you DaddyWu for all the loves! Dylan thoroughly enjoyed himself and he can't wait to be back in Phuket again!
