Travel guide to Bangkok with Baby

And so, my little bella Della made her second trip of the year to Bangkok! This time around, I actually travelled without the use of a stroller. It can be done! See, that's my baby girl sleeping peacefully at the SilverKris lounge over at Changi Airport. :)

Checked into Sukhothai Hotel! Our room had a nice garden view and this uber huge plush bed that's oh so soft and comfy! My little Della even did a cute model pose on it which was amicably shared on the hotel's Facebook site! :)

After washing up, we proceeded on to ISAO Sushi Bar which was highly recommended by my sisters. We tried their chirashi-don. It cost us a mere TB$250 for their lunch deal set. Really value for money and such a cheap thrill! I will rate it 9/10 for taste, super SHIOK!

And who can resist such a cute caterpillar sushi named "Jackie"? Haha!

We thought that ISAO Sushi Bar was pretty child/baby-friendly as we were ushered to the long bench seats where I could comfortably place Della down. You can see that she is sleeping from the picture above and for a good 1 hour! A definite plus for those travelling without strollers!

I even managed to nurse my girl before we set off to explore the shopping grounds. Just when we were about to leave, a Caucasian family of 3 with a young toddler came along and they were also being seated on the long bench chairs beside us. Great service and food to boot! I highly recommend checking out this restaurant once in your stay in Bangkok. However, they are very popular so do head there early to beat the lunch/dinner crowd.

We decided to suss out the nearby Terminal 21 mall after lunch. It was just a <10 minutes walk from ISAO. Terminal 21 is a relatively new mall with a cutting-edge concept that places several world-famous cities all under one roof. One could be wandering in a maze of shops in Tokyo to London and finding a bargain at Istanbul Zouk. That is the Golden Gate Bridges on levels 4 and 5. I bet that will get your little ones really excited!

After being to San Francisco many times, this indoor SFO theme sure brings back some lovely memories.

Before I forget, you can also go up to level 6 to buy yourself a data card for <SG$10. No need to search for free wifi anymore!

You can spend a whole day here walking through the different themes and keep finding more interesting brands from all over the world! Like this one above, Victoria, which is a funky shoe shop that hails from Spain and it caters to the little kiddos as well.

Nice shades! Trying out the gazillion accessories here in BKK haven!

And guess what? For getting the different level stamps, you can get yourself a cute souvenir tag for free! Singaporeans just love their freebies!

Halfway, we decided to stop by for a cuppa iced peach tea and a warm slice of strawberry mille crepe at the Desserie Sweet Cafe. Over here, I can also rest my back and nurse my baby girl while I watch the crowd go by.

One cannot leave Bangkok without trying their mango sticky rice! I bought these treats at the food court of San Francisco level and it was so damn good! Be sure to leave space for desserts when you are here!

Got back to the hotel to shower my baby and get myself prepared for this...

Yes! In-room massage! My dear husband has very kindly arranged for a Thai masseuse (my sister's contact) who previously worked for Healthland Spa. She can earn more coming out on her own to do massage for her clients, it is a definite win-win situation for lactating mommies like myself who is nursing on demand. The masseuse is able to stop the massage temporarily while you latch your baby and then continue when you are done and not be bounded by the time interval, simply perfect! If you need her contact, do feel free to drop me a comment. :)

Day 2 started when I was all alone with baby. So this how you go around for the entire day without a stroller. Yes, you read that right alright! Just a backpack for a diaper bag... Ta-dah! We are set and ready to comb Central World mall!

As all breastfeeding mommies will know, breastfed babies will poo up to 8-10 times a day! Coming to a mall with such awesome family room is pure bliss! Look how spacious this is! They even have curtains for the 4 nursing rooms inside this huge family room which is located on level 4.

like where can you find this in Singapore? A comfortable nursing chair!

This mall is incredible! Look at that choo-choo-train in the middle of no where! I bet your kids will all want to have a ride in it! There're so much more excitement going on here than malls back home!

Toddlers and young kids alike will go crazy with such a huge playground situated at level 6 of Central World Mall for them to burn off those excess energy while the parents shop till they drop! Just park your helper or grandparents who can offer to babysit them to be safe.

Wheee!!!!! I can so imagine if my boy is here! He will be ecstatic!

Now, I will like to share with you readers a really cool shop that sells cheap ZARA clothing for children. That's the one above. It is called SuperK Kids & Junior which I remember is also on the same floor, level 6.

I bought about 5 cardigans for my baby girl in a range of colors for a fraction of the original ZARA Baby clothes price. Best buy of the trip for my baby girl!

Karmakamet Secret World, which first appeared at JJ market, brings about glossy black boxes that are set in a rustic enclave of aromatherapy products haven. This has got to be a must-visit for your souvenir hunting! Personally, I bought a "JOY" massage oil and body salt scrub which smells of nirvana heaven. Can't wait to use it for my next in-room massage again!

There was a  mini Lego toy exhibition going on and it is such a rarity to see it back in Singapore. Central World mall will probably take you a full day or two to finish walking as it is really huge. So don your favorite pair of walking shoes, but I am sure you can find yourself a decent pair there fairly easily.

That is my bella Della getting a massage from P'Lek, in in-room Thai masseuse. She seems to like it, hehe. After that, she slept like a baby! No pun intended, heh!

Woke up to a scrumptious buffet brekkie spread at the Sukhothai. For those of you who loves hotel breakfast, everything here is very good, hearty and that includes the coffee! Or rather, we had skinny cappuccinos whilst others had lattes. This was well-worth the money. Charged up, the plan is to head to JJ Mall instead of JJ (Chatujak Market) as the latter was not air-conditioned and might be uncomfortable for the baby.

That is my little breakfast date, how sweet. =)

JJ Mall was such a disappointment for us! It did not have as much fashion apparels/accessories as compated to the real JJ market. JJ just have much more character, buzz and vibe! So shortly after, we left for JJ market, out into the hot sun we went! Yes, my poor Della had to be carried through the Pets section in the scorching 37-degrees heat all the way to the main entrance area, it was no joke! >.<

And because we trawled through from the JJ Mall side, we chanced upon this super cute and rainbow-colored tingkats. Too pretty don't you think? It will look absolutely retro hip as a display piece for the home kitchen.

In respite of the crazy heat, we found comfort at a cafe (Cafe DoiTung) which was air-conditioned thankfully. Hubby was literally parked there with baby Della while I continue shopping. Thanks DaddyWu!

What is visiting JJ without trying their famous coconut icecream? Just what you need in the balmy tropical heat!

SAWADESS-Smiles from us over at JJ market! ;D

The lovely Thai meal that one can have at almost every corner at JJ. You gotta try the Thai fried chicken with their spicy papaya salad! So simple and satisfying. Gulp down a coconut juice to cool off those fiery heat!

For dinner, we had the famous Somboon Seafood Surawong Curry Crab! Nothing like those you have tried back in Singapore, this one is a tad sweet on the palate and not spicy at all.

My girl is delighted at the sight of the fish! Seabass milk milk on its way! Haha!

On the last day of the trip, we hurried over to Platinum mall, there at the top level, you can grab last minute Bangkok souvenir snacks to bring back home. It is much cheaper than what you will pay at the airport and tastier too. We also had to have this After You Shibuya Honey French Toast with Chocolate sauce topping everytime we are in Bangkok. This is located at Central World, a short 10-minute walk from Platinum Mall.

Yes, this is my poison, what's yours?

Singaporeans love the friendly Thai city for the cheap eats and shopping. Every year, we find ourselves going back to do our annual shopping pilgrimage. And we cannot wait to be back! This is the little Bangkok Post April 2015, seeya real soon Bangkok!
